If you’re like me, you struggle to get through most days without falling asleep. I know I need more sleep but by the time I get home from work and start to relax after dinner, it’s pretty late. At that point, I only have a few hours of free time before I have to wake up and do it all over again. Needless to say, I resist going to bed. For this reason, I was interested to see this recent article that discusses the effects of sleep deprivation on children. Evidently, lack of sleep sets children’s cognitive abilities back several years. That explains A LOT.
I can already tell this post isn’t going to be very good so please forgive me. Maybe it’s because I didn’t get enough sleep as a child or maybe it’s because I’m about to fall asleep on my keyboard now. It doesn’t help that I’m only getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Sometimes less. Why do we get less sleep now than previous generations? Why don’t we value sleep more?
