bad waiterI can’t remember the last time I had good service. Oh yeah, it was in 1993. It seems like everywhere I go, the employees there couldn’t care less about their own incompetence. I swear, you’d make a billion dollars if you started a company that did exactly what it said it would do and (gasp!) treat customers with respect.

Almost every month, one of the various bills I receive is messed up and requires a call to fix. For example, I got billed on my credit card for a magazine subscription I didn’t want. I have no clue how they billed me. To fix this, it involved calling the company’s phone number, entering in my phone number, punching buttons to tell the automated service why I’m calling, and then waiting for 20 minutes to speak to someone who asks me for the exact info I just entered. Tell me, what is that automated system for then? FYI, the company told me they would send a refund check within 4-6 weeks. Hmm, they sure didn’t take that long to charge me. Calling technical support isn’t much better. You’d be lucky to get someone who speaks English and even luckier if they can solve your problem. I know, one miracle at a time.

It makes me think that companies don’t care about their customers. Frequently, I’m practically begging them to give me their service and they still can’t seal the deal. I called multiple times to two different companies for lawn care service and neither called me back. On the third time I called, I asked to speak to the manager and he told me he would have an associate call me back within the hour. Then this morning I finally got a call…three weeks later. Are you joking me? Aren’t these the same companies that harass people with flyers, phone calls, and door-to-door sales? Who knows, maybe they’ve seen how bad my lawn looks.
