A lot of people are out of shape but I think it’s harder to accept the fact when you used to be really active. I used to run six miles a day and could run a mile in under six minutes. Now if I run for 10 minutes, I’m in pain for 20. I started running tonight for the first time in years and mentally I was ready but my body didn’t get the memo.
Why is it so hard to accept that something is no longer the same? I knew I couldn’t run a six minute mile anymore but once I started running, I fully expected it to be as easy as it used to be. I was almost as delusional as those 40 year old mom’s who think they’re still sexy dressing like their 18 year old daughters.
That’s just life. After you hit your prime, all you have left are the memories of how things used to be. It just sucks I’ve already hit my prime and I’m still in my early twenty’s. Maybe I’ll have a cool mid-life crisis.
